Value: £40 million Ecclesall Junction, Sheffield
Ecclesall Junction is an exciting new student accommodation scheme on the site of a former car dealership on Ecclesall Road, Sheffield City Centre.
The scheme sets a new standard for student accommodation in the city and is being developed in partnership with American student accommodation specialist, Valeo Student.
Ecclesall Junction will be launched under Valeo’s aspirational LIV brand and comprises 561 high quality student bedrooms in apartments of between one and six occupants within a new part 13-storey, part nine-storey new building.
Residents will benefit from a comprehensive range of inclusive facilities including IPTV and in room Wi-Fi plus a reception and concierge service, gym, study lounge, library and residents club with stunning roof garden.
Supporting the new student community, and capitalising on the sites proximity to the city centre and status as a key commuter route, is 32,000 ft 2 of ground floor commercial and leisure retail space suited to cafés, coffee shops and food outlets. The scheme also incorporates 65 new car parking spaces.
Detailed planning was granted in Summer 2017 with officers praising the buildings design as elegant, well detailed and providing good standards of living for future occupants.
Ecclesall, and its immediate vicinity, is a popular residential and retail destination with students and young professionals due to its diverse array of independent bars, restaurants and shops and Waitrose supermarket. Nikals site lies at the junction between Ecclesall Road and the Sheffield Ring Road and is just five minutes walk from the city centre and between 10 and 20 minutes walk from the three main University campuses.
The design for Ecclesall Junction was developed in consultation with Sheffield based architecture practice Axis and global design engineers Arup. Metis has been appointed as retail agents, Work is scheduled to commence this Autumn with completion due Spring/Summer 2019.
